Bradford, VT Robert Thomas Wilcox, 65, of Plateau Acres, died on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Hanover, NH, May 5, 1946, the son of Thomas and Marion (DeGoosh) Wilcox. Robert graduated from Thetford Academy, Class of 1964. He married Pamela Bacon on November 26, 1967. Robert lived in Lyme, NH for 35 years, before moving to Bradford 7 years ago. For many years he was an oil burner technician for Johnson and Dix, before retiring in 2000 due to health issues. He attended the Fairlee Community Church and later the Lyme Congregational Church. In the late 60 s and early 70 s he enjoyed stock car racing at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, VT. Robert was an avid golfer and was a longstanding member of the Lake Morey Country Club. He loved square dancing and was a member and former President of the Connecticut Valley Swingers. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and woodturning. He was a member of the Twin State Woodturners Association and former member of the White River Bowling League. Robert enjoyed the New England Sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Patriots and enjoyed playing baseball. Robert and Pamela traveled extensively while being involved with square dancing. The last couple of years he participated in local farmers markets. He also enjoyed gardening and knitting socks along side his wife. His true passion was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Pamela (Bacon) Wilcox of Bradford, VT; two daughters, Hilary Scruggs and her husband Michael of Thetford, VT and Mina Smolinski and her husband Christopher of Westminister, MD; a son, Ryan Wilcox of Fairlee, VT; 7 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Townsend, Lauren Townsend, Alaina Scruggs, Nathan Smolinski, Mitchell Smolinski, Owen Smolinski, and Lila Smolinski; a sister, Connie Landry of Hooksett, NH; an aunt, Sylvia Swift and her husband Denzil of Wilder, VT; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be on Saturday, November 5th, at 2 PM at the Fairlee Community Church, Fairlee, VT with Pastor Richard Hodge officiating. A reception will follow the service at the Lake Morey Country Club. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Highland Cemetery in Lyme, NH.
