Robert
Wormer
Jun 9, 1959 — Oct 20, 2026
Monroe, NH
Monroe, NH – Robert Michael Wormer, affectionately known as Bob, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care in Lebanon, NH. He was 75 years old.
Bob was born on June 9, 1951, in Schenectady, NY, to Robert and E. Melissa “Min” (Scanlan) Wormer. After graduating from Guilderland High School in New York, he earned an associate degree from SUNY Delhi. He began his career as a veterinary technician before becoming a farmer, a profession he dedicated more than 40 years of his life to. He also worked at Pete and Gerry’s and served as a Selectman for the Town of Monroe.
Above all, Bob was a devoted family man who loved deeply and was always proud of those closest to him. He shared more than 50 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Gayle, and was the proud father of two daughters, Julie (Sean) Higgins and Christen Wormer. His daughters were his greatest source of pride, and he never missed an opportunity to share their accomplishments with others. He was equally delighted to hear the latest news about his grandchildren, celebrating their athletic achievements, academic successes, and professional milestones with genuine excitement and admiration.
In addition to his daughters, Bob is survived by his grandchildren, Keara, Broden, and Kayden Higgins; his sisters, Deborah (Kenneth) Kryzak, Beth West, and Mary (Peter) Richardson; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gayle; his parents, Robert and Melissa Wormer; and his brother-in-law, Bud West.
Bob found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He cherished visits with his daughters, time spent with his grandchildren, annual family trips to the Outer Banks, and catching up with friends. Some of his favorite moments were spent relaxing in his camping chair, listening to music, enjoying the ocean, or sitting on his front porch. He appreciated the opportunity to slow down, take in his surroundings, and spend time with the people who mattered most to him.
Those who knew Bob will remember his straightforward nature, his willingness to speak his mind, and his readiness to share his opinion—whether anyone had asked for it or not! His honesty, candidness, and unmistakable personality were part of what made him uniquely Bob, and he will be remembered fondly by the many people whose lives he touched.
As we say “catch ya later” to Bob, may we honor his memory by embracing the things he loved most: spending time with family and friends, celebrating one another’s accomplishments, enjoying the ocean, listening to good music, and taking a moment to sit back in a camping chair and appreciate life.
A graveside ceremony at the cemetery on Plains Road, followed by a celebration of life at the Monroe Town Hall, will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2027, at 11:30 am. Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories of Bob.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care in support of the compassionate care provided to Bob and his family.
