Woodsville, NH -- Rodney Rod Mann died unexpectedly following surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. He was born at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, the son of Natalie (Ruggles) MacDonald Mann and Milton Sonny MacDonald. At a young age he was adopted by George E. Mann. He graduated from Haverhill (NH) Academy in 1967. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country with distinction until his honorable discharge in 1971. In 1984 Rod married his sweetheart and best friend, Joanne Klark, whom he loved dearly. They were together for 30 wonderful years. Rod & Jo are the parents of 3 children, Chad, Dave and Robbie. Rod deeply loved and was very proud of their sons. From an early age, Rod displayed the ability to fix almost anything and earned a reputation for being neat, orderly and organized. He was fondly thought of as a kind and helpful Mr. Fix-It by many of his neighbors, family and friends, and he truly enjoyed helping others. Rod worked in the automobile business most of his life, most recently as the sales manager at H.O. Taylor Chevrolet in Wells River, VT. He had an interest in classic cars and was well known for his passion for fine automobiles. His vehicles were always immaculate and in showroom condition. On sunny summer days he loved cruising with his wife in his Corvette or Roadster while listening to oldies music. He enjoyed being involved in his children's activities to the extent possible, and in his younger years, he enjoyed playing golf. He also steadfastly supported his wife in her career and other pursuits. Rod took pride in his home and loved being on the hill, relaxing on the porch and admiring the mountains of NH & VT. He enjoyed watching the birds, butterflies and woodland creatures. He also took pleasure in feeding the hummingbirds. He especially loved dogs and had canine friends all over town, each one eagerly looking forward to his visits and the treats he always carried in his pockets. Rod had been a member of the Woodsville Area Booster Club, Northeast Corvette Club, the American Legion and the Society of Sales Executives. Most of all, Rod cherished his family and close circle of friends. He appreciated life's simple pleasures and will be greatly missed by the many who loved and depended on him.
