Groton, VT-  Rodney Roger Rood, Sr., 70, of Ricker Mill Road, died on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at the Berlin Health and Rehab in Berlin, VT.

Rodney was born on November 19, 1949 in Corinth, VT to Clifford Henry and Bernice (Comstock) Rood, Sr.

He served in the Army National Guard based in Bradford, VT for 23 years and worked for the Town of Corinth highway department for 16 years.

Rodney enjoyed hunting and being with his dogs, Gus, Sassy, and Sarah.  He loved attending flea markets, buying, selling, and swapping items, as well as attending the Monday night auctions in Bradford, VT.  He was a member of the American Legion.

Rodney's family will remember his great sense of humor and that he always had a can of Pepsi in his hands.  He was known for his sarcastic wit and was a great grandfather to his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son Rodney Rood, Jr. and wife Julie of Groton, VT and their daughter, Ashley Kennedy and husband Joshua and their children Cobin and Camden Kennedy along with their son, Jordan Rood and fiancé` Madison Smith;  his son Ralph Rood and fiancé` April Dyke of Wells River, VT and his son Jaybyn Rood; and his daughter, Robin Shaw and husband Eric of Bradford, VT and four grandchildren Trinity Shaw, Austin Palmer, Riley Palmer, and Tyler Palmer and Eric's sons Dylan and Drew Shaw.  Also surviving is a sister, Caroline Rood of Corinth and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Clifford Rood, Jr. and Russell Comstock.

There will be no calling hours.

A graveside service has been postponed to a later time when friends and family can gather in the Groton Village Cemetery.
