Ronald "Grimace"
Sulham
June 14, 2024
Woodsville, NH – Beloved son, brother, and a friend to many, Ronald Dean Sulham (aka Grimace, Ronnie), passed away suddenly at home in Woodsville, NH, the week of June 9th at the age of 71. Ronnie (best known most of his life as Grimace) was born September 17th, 1952, at the Old Cottage Hospital to Betty J. (Lafrance) and Milford Sulham.
Growing up Ronnie enjoyed playing baseball and annoying his brothers; otherwise, he was a friendly and kind person to all he met, always willing to take the time to chat. When he was around 8 years old, he believed he was Superman and would often imitate that character. One evening he was determined he could fly, attempting his skill by leaping off a kitchen chair and falling face-first onto an open oven door knocking out one of his top front teeth. The gap that resulted became part of his trademark smile throughout the remainder of his life.
Ronnie attended Wells River School from first grade through his freshman year when the High School closed. He attended Woodsville High School for one year. After leaving school for a year, he returned to complete his HS degree in 1972 at Blue Mountain Union High School. Post HS he worked various jobs in Vermont, Illinois, and New Hampshire. He retired from New England Wire in 2018.
Ronnie was an avid sports fan cheering on and complaining about his favorite teams, which obviously were the Boston Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, and Bruins. He also enjoyed following sports played by his nephews and nieces.
Ronnie was predeceased in 2005 by both his parents Betty J. (Lafrance) and Milford Sulham. Ronnie is survived by his son Derek Sulham; three brothers; Robert (Peggy) of Bath, NH; Larry (Su-Ann) of Stevenson Ranch, CA and Gary of Groton, VT; along with many nieces and nephews. Family and friends were most important to Ronnie. Ronnie, you will be missed by many, loved by more, and cherished forever.
If anyone wishes to honor Ronnie's life with a donation, please give to your favorite charity or to your local sports programs.
For all interested, a graveside service will held at the Pine Grove Cemetery on July 8th, at 1 PM.
