McIndoe Falls, VT- Ross Gerald Davis, 88, died peacefully surrounded by his family at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center, St. Johnsbury, VT on Monday, May 13, 2013. Ross was born in Knowlton, Quebec on March 4, 1925, to Gerald & Harriet (Wright) Davis. He married Patricia Benoit on May 4, 1943. He moved to Attleboro, MA in 1948 when he was taken under the wing of his Uncle Doug, who was in the construction business and taught him the building trade. Upon his uncle s death in the mid 1950 s, Ross started his own thriving construction business until moving to Barnet, VT in 1977. In Barnet, he worked for various building contractors as well as being a self employed carpenter until his retirement in the late 1990 s. Ross was an avid oil and acrylic painter of nature scenes, completing many paintings that had been commissioned. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and gardening. Ross volunteered his time and loved to help others in need. He was a former member of the Barnet Zoning Board. He was predeceased by his wife Patricia Benoit Davis on March 10, 2002 and by two brothers, Murray Davis and Lloyd Davis. He is survived by two sons, Allan Davis and companion Sandy Hatley of Barnet and Dana Davis and wife Dale Koehler of Norton, MA; his daughter-in-law, Sandra Davis of St. Johnsbury, VT; three grandchildren, Sherri Bearce and husband Wayne of Barnet, Scott Davis and wife Tammi of Barnet, and Beth Lindstrom of Cabot, VT; ten great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Welch of Sharpsboro, GA; a brother, Carroll Davis of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Thursday, May 16 from 6-8 PM at Ricker Funeral Home & Cremation Care of Woodsville, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. There will be a graveside service at the McIndoe Falls Cemetery, McIndoe Falls,VT on Friday, May 17, at 3 PM.
