Monroe, NH Ruth (Gibson) Emmons, 87, formerly of Coppermine Road in Monroe, and previous to that Anderson Street in Barnet, VT, died Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Grafton County Nursing Home, North Haverhill, NH. She was born in Monroe, NH, September 23, 1927, a daughter of Frank and Jennie (Moore) Gibson. Ruth graduated from Woodsville High School, Class of 1945, and attended Burdett Business College in Boston. For several years she was a bookkeeper for the former Hovey s Shops of St. Johnsbury and later worked as a teaching aide in the Barnet School System. Ruth gave private piano lessons for 26 years and played trumpet in the McLure s Band, starting in third grade. She sang in the North Country Chorus and the Melatones, a barber shop quartet. For many years, Ruth was a substitute organist at many area churches and played for many weddings and church events. Also for several years she was a volunteer at the Littleton Regional Hospital. She is a member of the Monroe Community Church. Ruth married Roland Emmons on October 30, 1948 and he predeceased her on April 17, 1991. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Wayne, on August 30, 2001, and three brothers Ross, Elwin, and Dale Gibson. Survivors include her children, Judith Hayward and husband Charles of Dayton, ME, Keith Emmons and wife Belinda of Barnet, VT, Curtis Emmons of Littleton, and Marjorie Emmons of Monroe; ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Fitzgerald of Monroe; along with several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be on Monday, November 24th, at 11 AM in the Monroe Community Church, with Pastor Earl Brock officiating.
