Newbury, VT – Ruth L. Gale, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at the Atkinson Residence, Newbury, VT, where she had been tenderly cared for the last several years.

Ruth was born in Stoneham, MA, November 27, 1923, the daughter of Charles W. and Irene C. (Phinney) Parker.  She had an older brother, Charles W. Parker, Jr.

Ruth was a stenographer at a US Air Force base during World War II and took the minutes of several McCarthy Era trials as well.

She was married to Daniel Joseph Crowley from 1948 to 1973 when he passed away. In 1987 she married David Gale, and they were married until 2003 when he passed away.

Ruth was a shy and quiet person but those close to her knew she had a kind and caring heart.  She was the most generous and loving mother and grandmother that it is possible to be.

She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Charles; her first husband Daniel Joseph Crowley; and her second husband, David Gale.

Survivors include her only daughter, Kathy Gale and husband Steve; two grandchildren, Erin and Daniel and his wife Carrie; two great grandchildren, Greg and Pepper; a sister-in-law, Marjorie; nieces, Susan and Janet; and a nephew, David.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family in the Jefferson Hill Cemetery, Newbury, VT.

Ruth's family would like to thank the Atkinson Residence and the visiting nurse and hospice for the wonderful, loving care in the final years and months of her life.
