Sandra
Dennis
September 12, 2023
Sandra "Sandy" Dennis, 74, Groton, VT, died September 12, 2023, surrounded by her family at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care, Lebanon, NH. She was born on September 6, 1949, to Elwin and Elaine (Elkins) Sheltra in Newport, VT. She married Alan "Joe" Dennis on October 26, 1968. Prior to their retirement to VT in 2017, Sandy and Joe lived in Bristol, CT.
Sandy worked for many years for Gems Sensors in Plainville, CT. She loved family gatherings, the bigger the better. She was a very stylish lady, her nails were always perfect, and her hair was always in place, except when she had the top down in her Mustang on the way to get ice cream. Sandy was not one to mince words, she would tell you how it was and was not afraid of being the boss, especially with her younger brothers. She enjoyed going to tag sales to look for deals, and some of those deals turned into the best Halloween costumes that she wore to work. Sandy always liked things her way, which included properly loading the dishwasher and sticking to "her" ingredients in a recipe. She was sure to let you know how a Hallmark movie ended before you got to the first commercial. Make no mistake Sandy was all about a good time and a good laugh that we all will miss very much,
Sandy is predeceased by her parents; her husband Joe of 53 years, a son, Rick, and a brother Wayne Sheltra. She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Tina Biengardo and her husband Joseph, of Hudson, FL, and Tammy Dennis and her fiancé Anthony Truiolo, of Bristol CT; two brothers, Elwin Sheltra Jr. and his girlfriend Sandra Gendron of Montgomery, VT, and Ronnie Sheltra and his wife Becky of Richford, VT; a sister Sharlene Rushlow of Richford, VT; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends including two who she cherished dearly: Janet Puffer and Charmaine Albini. She will be missed dearly by her shadow, her dog K.D.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday September 23, 2023, at 10AM, at the Groton United Methodist Church led by Brent Smith.
