Obituary

Warren, NH – Scott E. Hancock Sr, 63, passed away unexpectedly at home Thursday morning, February 24, 2022.

Scott was born at Boston City Hospital in Boston, MA on July 5, 1958, to Jeannette (Gallagher) and Francis Hancock.  He grew up in Plastow, NH where he played football, rode motorcycles, and worked on cars with his good friends and younger brother David.

During his early journey, Scott married his first wife Rebecca (Austin) and had two sons, Joseph and William.  While Scott and Rebecca's marriage did not last, their partnership in raising their sons continued while they remained good friends until his passing.

An anxious young man with spirit for adventure, Scott took to the road as a tractor trailer truck driver around New England and the east coast.  He met his second wife the late Betty Jo (Decker) in Connecticut, and they quickly fell in love.  They married and moved to Warren, NH where they began to build their homestead dream and his third son, the late Scott Jr (34) was born.

Scott explored his pioneer drive with a love of learning and building.  He was a simple man of many skills and ambitions where he held numerous jobs throughout his lifetime from driving trucks to entrepreneurship to landscaping to farming, to trade work and everything in between.  Scott showed his vast talents through the construction and development of his homestead property, multiple business ventures and was never too tired to pass on his knowledge and skills to family and friends.  His last adventure was assisting and volunteering at the Warren/Wentworth Food Pantry.  He loved donating his time and energy to working with the other volunteers to gather, organize, and distribute food necessities to make sure everyone in the community was taken care of.

Scott was a true outdoorsman with a passion for fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and racing.  He enjoyed these activities throughout the tri-state area and into northeastern Canada.  Scott's love of fishing took him many places and netted him multiple state and local fishing records over the years.  Throughout his fishing adventures he created several relationships which allowed him to share his knowledge and passion for the sport with others along the way.

Scott is survived by his son Joseph and wife Sara of Yuma, AZ; his son William of Manchester, NH; his grandchildren Analiese and Marcus of Yuma, AZ, Makayla of Harmonyville, VT; his brother David of Moscow, ME; his step-mother Paula of Winter Garden, FL; and his step-brothers Shon and James.  Scott was predeceased by his wife Betty Jo (08/17/1990); his youngest son Scott Jr (08/13/2015); his mother Jeanette (10/3/2009); and his father Francis (03/15/2014).

There is little doubt that Scott will be missed by his family, friends, and many others that had the privilege of meeting him along their journey of life.  There will be a future celebration of life gathering for family and close friends to honor Scott.  Information will be shared when arrangements are finalized, and fairer weather arrives.
