North Ryegate, VT- Stanley Wendell Crown, 81, of Mosquitoville Road, died at the VA Medical Center, White River Junction, VT on Tuesday, February 12, 2019.
Stanley was born in Groton, VT on December 22, 1937 to Wendell J. and Florence M. (Bailey) Crown. He graduated from Groton High School and served his country in the US Air Force from February 17, 1961 through March 4, 1965 when he was honorably discharged. Stanley was a lifelong dairy farmer and owned and operated the Crown Farm in Ryegate.
Stanley had a great love for the outdoors and spent his free time hunting, fishing, and sugaring. Family gatherings were special occasions. Recently, he treasured his many visits from family, friends, and neighbors to his home.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Orr) Crown, to whom he was married on January 21, 1967. He is also survived by three children, Debra Lewis and husband Archie of Groveton, NH, Steve Crown and wife Cheryl of North Ryegate, VT, and Curt Crown and wife Shelley of Hopkinton, NH; four grandchildren, Stephanie Carolan & husband John, Kyle Crown, Sally Lewis, and Emma Crown; a great grandson, Greyson; two brothers, Leon H. Crown of Lakeland, FL and Russell B. "Rusty" Crown and wife Martha of Groton, VT; a brother in law, Edgar Downing of Topsham, VT; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by a sister, Nanetta W. Downing.
Stanley was also predeceased by his cousin Harry D. Crown on February 1, 2015 and is survived by Harry's family, Kathie Crown and companion Gary Roy, along with Harry and Kathie's children, Aimee, Jason, Corey, Lisa and their families.
Calling hours will be on Friday, February 15th from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH.
A private graveside service will be observed in the Walter Harvey Cemetery, Barnet, VT in the spring.
