Stephen A Crocker, 76, East Ryegate, VT, died at his home on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.  He was born in Whitefield, NH on May 7, 1947, to Chester A Crocker Jr. and Julia H. (Foster) Crocker.  The family moved to Massachusetts in his childhood, and he graduated from Norwood High School.
Steve enlisted in the US Navy on December 4, 1967, and served honorably until his discharge on October 29, 1971.  He met and married Joyce Roccio and together they had one daughter.  The family lived in Florida and later, Alabama where Steve worked in restaurants and food service.  Joyce died in 1999 and he moved to Vermont with his daughter to be closer to family.  Steve continued his work in food service in Vermont, working for P&H Truckstop, St. Johnsbury Academy, and retiring from Dartmouth College.  In retirement, he supplemented his income as a home caregiver.
He enjoyed the outdoors, turkey hunting, ice fishing, and camping.  He enjoyed cooking for friends and family, especially on his smoker.
Steve is predeceased by his parents, his wife Joyce Crocker, and a sister Martha Crown.  He is survived by his daughter Amanda Cole and her husband Thomas of East Ryegate; two grandchildren, Isabella and Evan Cole; two brothers, Ralph Crocker and his wife Candace of Peacham, VT, and James Crocker and his wife Patricia of East Ryegate, VT; a brother-in-law, Rusty Crown of Groton, VT; several nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, and his beloved dog Rascal.
There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, in the Groton Village Cemetery at 10 AM.
