Obituary

Stephen E Lackie, 61, of Bath, NH, passed on Dec 2nd at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Born Nov 2, 1964, to Harry A Lackie Jr and Rita (Roy) Lackie in Woodsville, NH, he lived most of his life in Bath. He graduated from Woodsville High School in 1982. He spent some years in Phoenix, AZ, learning motorcycle mechanics and tying steel for a commercial concrete company. After returning home to Bath, he worked on the family farm with his father, followed by operating his own concrete business, Reliant Concrete. After years of grueling physical labor, he left the concrete business and returned to another passion – farming at PT Farm.

Steve was a hard-working 'jack of all trades'. He was a talented concrete contractor, motorcycle mechanic, tradesman, and farmer. He loved nature, music, reading, and playing games with anybody he could beat. Steve loved gardening, hiking, hunting, reading a good book, music, and "dabbling" in many instruments. He felt most at home when outside in nature.

One of the greatest gifts that Steve leaves behind is the intelligence he instilled in all people wise enough to seek his knowledge. He valued learning and loved working with those who were like-minded. He was especially fond of teaching the 'next generation' about farming and nature, or troubleshooting a piece of equipment with his brothers. He particularly loved cropping and sharing his knowledge and experience with the PT Farm family.

Steve enjoyed the simple things in life and was wonderfully content to spend his evenings on the front porch with a kitten or two, spending time in his garden, and snowshoeing.

Steve knew the importance of family. After his parents passed, he purchased the family farm so that his family could continue to gather there for holidays, sledding parties, or to build the Lackie Family Float for the 4th of July parade. He was always ready to share a story, play a game, and enjoy a delicious meal. He never missed a family gathering.

Steve is survived by his 7 siblings Joseph Lackie, Evelyn Perron, Cecile Lackie, Albert Lackie, Gloria Gidari and husband, Bob, Ronald Lackie and Sharon Lackie; his beloved nieces and nephews Jennifer (Pat) Paczkowski, Andrea (Nate) Lackie, Ryan (Shusu) Lackie, Kevin (Laken) Lackie, Kyle (Abby) Gidari, Kevin (Allie) Gidari, Jennifer (Terry) Impey and Dennis Keith, Nicole (Lackie) Stafford and Hallie-Grace Robbins; several grand nieces and nephews, Uncles and Aunts and a boat-load of cousins. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Harry and Rita Lackie Jr, and many relatives.

It was Steve's wish to not have any services. Instead, take some time and go for a hike; hike the Lackie Lone Oak Trail; enjoy the stillness and beauty of nature just as Steve was called to do.

Should you be so moved and haven't done so yet or lately, become an organ donor and/or give blood. Steve was blessed to receive both, for which we are grateful.
