Steven F
Smith
February 22, 2020
Monroe, NH-Steven "Smitty" F. Smith, 68, formerly of Newbury, VT, died on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the Country Village Center in Lancaster, NH.
He was born at Cottage Hospital on September 24,1951, the son of Helen (Bigelow) Lambert and Charles Smith. He went on to marry his former wife, Patti (Leonard) Smith, with whom he shared two children.
For many, many years Steve was a logger in the Vermont and New Hampshire woods, which he loved. After logging he moved on to carpentry and real estate. But his most prideful and most fulfilling accomplishment was being a coach. He loved coaching basketball and baseball to all kids, especially his children and grandchildren. He loved telling stories of fond memories as a coach, something he always held on to.
Steve would do anything for his children and grandchildren. He was always there, willing to help where he was needed, no questions asked. Steve was also known as having quite the character. One thing that he will be remembered for, is giving nicknames to people. If you had a nickname given to you, you were special to him. Some of those nicknames still stick til this day.
He was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Charles.
Survivors include his daughter, Carrie Smith; son Adam Smith; and granddaughter Mia Smith all of Las Vegas, NV; former spouse and mother of his children, Patti (Leonard) Smith; daughter Sharonda and her husband, Marty Hunsicker; grandson's Sincere and Shayden Wilson all of Monroe, NH.
There will be no calling hours or funeral service. Per Steve's wishes there will be a celebration of his life in July of this summer. A place, date and time will be announced.
