West Barnet, VT Stuart Otis Stevenson, 82, died on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the Grafton County Nursing Home, North Haverhill, NH. Otis was born in Burlington, VT, May 21, 1928, the son of David Stuart and Thressa (Blaine) Stevenson. He married Esther E. Gadapee on October 7, 1946. Otis was a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Peacham, Caledonia Sand and Gravel, and Winterset, Inc. An avid outsdoorsman, Otis enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed dancing, sugaring, and auctions. He loved fair season and the activities associated with fairs, especially horse and ox pulling. His favorite was the Fryeburg Fair. Otis was always available to lend a helping hand. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Esther E. Stevenson on November 7, 2002. Survivors include his three daughters, Janice M. Page and husband Frank of Groton, Virginia R. Douse and husband Tim of East Ryegate, and Cheryl E. Slayton and husband David of East Ryegate; four sons, David O. Stevenson and wife Marilyn of Barnet, Richard B. Stevenson and wife Paula of Barnet, Norman S. Stevenson and wife Penny of West Barnet, and Frederick A. Stevenson and wife Cheryl of South Peacham; 18 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be on Thursday, April 14th, at 2 PM, at The Presbyterian Church of Barnet at West Barnet, 279 West Main Street, West Barnet, VT, with Rev. Dr. Howard Gaston officiating. Burial will be in the spring at the West Barnet Cemetery.
