Susan
Lackie
March 11, 1941 – April 24, 2022
Pike, NH- Susan J. Lackie, 81, of Boucher Road passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at the Grafton County Nursing Home surrounded by family.
She was born on March 11, 1941, to John and Arlene (Rassmussen) Spinney in Portsmouth, NH.
After high school she went to UNH, where she met and married Frederick H. Lackie. Together, they would refer to their college days as "their time at UNH."
If you knew Susan, she was known as independent and strong, she always had an "I do what I want" attitude and would always be known as a laid back, jeans and T-shirt kind of woman.
In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, vegetables and flowers, sewing, crafts, puzzles, canning, snowmobiling, and sugaring season. She loved animals, farming, ice cream of any kind, listening to music, being outside, and her two furry companions, their dogs, Oogie and Sam. She always had an open door to anyone who needed a place to stay, and was a dedicated, loving wife and mother.
Fred and Susan referred to their marriage as a partnership. No job was too big or too small for the other and anything that needed to be done on the farm, Sue would be right alongside Fred to make sure it got done.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Lackie of Pike, NH; a son Christopher Lackie of Eden, VT; two daughters, Linda Robinson of New Durham, NH and Sandra Lackie of Pike, NH; a brother, Arnold Spinney of Middleburg, FL; two sisters Constance McCollett of Middleburg, FL and Janice Karkos of Rollinsford, NH; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was predeceased by two sons, Freddy Lackie and Russell Lackie; and a brother, Owen Spinney.
The family would like to thank the Grafton County Nursing Home, Meadow Unit, for taking care of, and loving, their wife and mother, Susan.
There will be a graveside service held for Susan at the East Haverhill Cemetery on May 6, 2022, with Melissa Gould as celebrant.
