Susan Norcross
O'Brien
June 24, 1928 – July 23, 2017
Peacham, VT- Susan Norcross O'Brien, 89, of Way Road, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017, at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, St. Johnsbury, VT, surrounded by her large adoring family.
Born on June 24, 1928, in Bronxville, NY, to Evans Barclay and Hannah (Shepherd) Norcross, Susan spent most of her life in Peacham where she was well known and loved in her community including the Peacham Congregational Church.
All those fortunate enough to have known her were blessed by her warm heart, humble spirit, friendly smile, and quick wit. In addition to the community of Peacham, her passions included her vegetable garden, animals, and books. Susan was a tireless advocate for the Peacham Library where her roles over the years included librarian, facilitator of book sales, and operator of the bookmobile.
Susan's real love however, was her family. She was a very special wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her absence from this world leaves an unfillable void in the lives of her family and friends. She is and will remain greatly missed. We love you Mom/Susan.
Susan is survived by her husband of 69 years, Mark Alfred Stuart O'Brien of Peacham; their five children, Mark Stuart O'Brien and wife Janet of Danville, VT, Daniel Lawrence O'Brien of Peacham, Catherine O'Brien Roy and husband Bruce of West Barnet, VT, Shane Slaight O'Brien and wife Judy of Drumore, PA, and Keith Stuart O'Brien and wife Kippy of Crimora, VA; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren; and her brother, Evans B. Norcross, Jr. of Charlotte, NC.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service will be in the Peacham Village Cemetery on Saturday, July 29th at 2 PM with Rev. Dr. Robert A. Potter, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Peacham Library, 656 Bayley Hazen Road, Peacham, VT 05862.
