Susie May McGuire, 74, Barnet, VT, died at her home on Sunday December 10, 2023.  She was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, on October 21, 1949, to A. Francis and Doris (Moore) Roy.
Susie graduated from McIndoe Academy in 1968 and went to work at the Grafton County Nursing Home where she earned her nursing degree while working.  She eventually moved on to the Glencliff Home and retired in 2018.  While working at the nursing homes she also found private nursing jobs, helping people in their homes, work she continued until 2021.  She married Michael McGuire in Barnet, VT, on March 26, 1977.
Susie enjoyed her flower gardens and was known for creating huge gardens all the way around the house.  She was an animal lover, always had pet cats and dogs, and for many years owned several horses, teaching horse riding at her home and on the farm.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Michael McGuire Sr. in May of 1978, her son Michael McGuire Jr., July 1978, four infant siblings, and a brother-in-law, Gary Calkins Sr.   She is survived by two brothers, Arthur Roy Jr. and his wife Debra of Barnet, and Lawrence Roy and his wife Gloria of Barnet; two sisters, Joan O. Black and her husband Richard of Barnet, and Emily Calkins of Lyndonville; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Calling hours will be Thursday December 21, 2023, from 5-7PM at Ricker Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Woodsville, 1 Birch St. Woodsville, NH.  There will be a celebration of life on Sunday June 23, 2024, from 2-5 at Roy's Campground on the meadow, Blaine Dr. West Barnet, VT.  Those who wish may make donations in memory of Susie McGuire to Mountain View Farm Animal Sanctuary, Box 38, Darling Hill Road, East Burke, VT 05832
