Obituary

Woodsville , NH – Sylvia Ann Brill, 81, a former longtime Wells River, VT resident, died Thursday, April 5, 2018, at the Grafton County Nursing Home, North Haverhill, NH.

Sylvia was born and raised in Warren, NH, May 31, 1936, a daughter of Walter Hue and Lois (Merrill) Wetherbee. After graduating from Woodsville High School, Class of 1954, she worked as a nursing aide at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, and later as a medical secretary at the Wells River Clinic. She was a member of the Wells River Congregational Church. Sylvia was an eclectic gardener as she tended to many small flower and vegetable gardens around her home. She was always busy with various crafts including knitting, quilting, tole painting, and sewing. She loved to cook and bake for her family-especially for her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling to San Diego over the years to visit with her daughter and family. She was happiest just being with those she loved, and she had a soft heart for every cat and kitten that belonged to her or anyone else.

Sylvia married James A. Brill on November 20, 1954, and he predeceased her on February 27, 2007.

Surviving family members include her children, Cynthia Schindel and husband John of San Diego, CA, Cathryn Zampieri of South Ryegate, VT, and Allen Brill and wife Sheila of Woodsville; five grandchildren, Stacy, Jason, Scott, Amy, and Rachel; two great grandchildren, Elena and Grady; two sisters, Eudora Hibbard and Melissa Libby, both of Warren; and two brothers, Bernard Wetherbee and wife Earlene of Ryegate, VT, and Hue Wetherbee, and wife Debbie of Glencliff, NH; along with several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be on Friday, May 18, 3 PM at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Swiftwater Road, Woodsville, NH, with Melissa Gould serving as Funeral Celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, it would be appreciated if memorial contributions were made to Second Chance Animal Rescue, 1517 Meadow Street, Littleton, NH 03561.
