Woodsville, NH – Theda M. Allen, 88, formerly of South Court Street, died Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at the Lafayette Center in Franconia, NH.

She was born in Lowell, VT, October 29, 1930, a daughter of Bertrand H. and Viola E. (Smith) Powers. Theda married Marshall W. Allen on October 23, 1949.

Over the years, she worked for the shoe factories in both Woodsville and Lisbon.  After that, she stocked the Hallmark stores with greeting cards.  She also worked at the former Ames Department Store.

Theda was an accomplished seamstress and made wedding gowns as well as other clothing.  She loved reading and doing crossword puzzles.  She enjoyed tending her vegetable garden, fishing, camping, and blueberry picking in Wheelock, VT.  She treasured time with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter Gail Krout of Woodsville; a son, Colin Allen of Woodsville; five grandchildren, Amber Driscoll, Jennifer Blouse, Trevor Allen, Shawn Ilgenfritz, and Jason Allen; two great grandchildren, Brenden Allen and Kai Allen; a sister, Shirley Pion of Newport Center, VT; along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Marshall W. Allen on March 31, 1997; a son, Dean B. Allen on January 9, 2005; two sisters, Hazel Morey Wheeler and Katie Blodgett Henley; and four brothers, Roger Powers, Elwin Powers, Archie Powers, and Dale Powers.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, February 21st from 6-8 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH.

A graveside service will be on Friday, May 10th at 2 PM in Pine Grove Cemetery, Swiftwater Road, Woodsville.
