Monroe, NH Thelma Ruth Fearon George, 91, died April 19, 2010, at the Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, NH, following a period of failing health. She was born in Ryegate, VT, October 1, 1918, a daughter of Linwood and Emma (Crane) Whitehill. Thelma was a 1937 graduate of McIndoes Academy. In 1940 she married Glenn R. Fearon and he predeceased her in 1951. Thelma worked for more than 15 years as a dietary aide at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH. She was a member of the Woodsville United Methodist Church, the Girls Club of the Church, and a member of the Friends of Bath. She was an avid reader and wood carver, having taken lessons from Harriett Hinman in Monroe. She made handmade stationery and wedding invitations. Thelma also enjoyed walking and mountain climbing in the area. She moved to Monroe in July 2002. She is survived by a son, Wayne D. Fearon and wife Bobby-Ann; a daughter, Jane I. Fearon both of Monroe; two grandchildren, Christina Fearon and Neal Gombas of Peacham, VT and Glenn Fearon and wife Laura of Monroe; four great grandchildren, Dylan and Josie Gombas of Peacham and Matthew and Breanna Fearon of Monroe; a brother-in-law, Leroy Ryder of Nantucket Island, MA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A calling hour will be held from 1 to 2 PM with the funeral service at 2 PM, on Saturday, April 24, at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH, with Rev. Dr. Catherine Cook from the South Ryegate Presbyterian Church will officiate and will be assisted by Pastor Susan Ellery of the Woodsville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Swiftwater Road, Woodsville, NH.
