Wells River, VT Theodore T. Ted Roberts, 70, died February 12, 2012 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Haverhill, NH, April 1, 1941, a son of Homer L. and Muriel (Demeritt) Roberts. Ted graduated from Wells River High School, Class of 1959, and resided in Wells River most of his life. He worked for the A&P Tea Company for 20 years before owning Ted s Market in Wells River, and later worked for Bob Powers Construction before retiring as a self-employed painter and contractor. A sports enthusiast, Ted played for area town team basketball teams and later helped to start the Blue Mt. Youth Basketball Program. He took great pride in attending his children s and grandchildren s sporting events. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping at West Pond, taking care of his yard, watching college basketball, dancing, listening to music, and being with his family and friends. Ted helped organize the former Woodsville-Wells River Chamber of Commerce, and was a former member of the Wells River Fire Department and the Rotary Club. He married the former Sandra Anderson on February 3, 1962. Ted is survived by his wife of 50 years Sandy of Wells River; three children, Jeff Roberts of Wells River, Gregory Roberts and partner Patricia Ward of Monroe, NH, and Karen Norcross and husband Harry of North Haverhill; five grandchildren, Michael and Christopher Norcross, Courtney Ward, Andrea and Hannah Roberts; a sister Sandra Brown and husband Ken of Woodsville; a half sister, Merlene Willis of Wells River; along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a half brother, James Taylor. Calling hours will be on Thursday, February 16th from 6-8 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A memorial service will be on Friday, February 17th at 1 PM at the funeral home with Mr. Brian Emerson officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Blue Mt.
