Monroe, NH- Theresa K. "Becky" Gibson, 84, of Plains Road, died peacefully at her home on Friday, October 6, 2017, after a long illness.
Becky was born in Newport, VT, on January 28, 1933, a daughter of Joseph and Madeline (Albiser) Pratt. She graduated from McIndoe Falls Academy in 1951 as Valedictorian. On September 12, 1953, she married Elwyn M. Gibson.
Together Elwyn and Becky farmed the "Gibson Farm" in Monroe. For thirty years, she served as a part-time librarian in Monroe and was recognized for her service at her retirement party in February 2017.
Becky was a long-time member of the Monroe Community Church. She enjoyed doing hand work such as knitting and sewing. She was at home in her kitchen while baking cookies and cakes and making pies with the berries she picked. It wasn't Christmas until she made her Christmas caramels. In earlier years, she taught 4-H and enjoyed ice skating in the winter. She was an avid Boston Celtics fan.
Becky was forever dedicated to her family and the farm. Whether it was 5AM or 11 PM, she was there to prepare a meal or to give support.
She was predeceased by her husband, Elwyn Gibson on May 1, 1998, and her brother, John A. Pratt on November 25, 1992.
She is survived by three daughters, Karen S. Gibson of Fredericksburg, VA, Cynthia G. Chrobak and husband Edward of Kittery Point, ME, and Diane L. Gibson Smith of Fruitland Park, FL; three sons, Paul J. Gibson and wife Senya, Doug F. Gibson, and Peter G. Gibson all of Monroe; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; along with a niece, a nephew, and cousins.
An hour of calling time will be at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH, on Tuesday, October 10 from 10-11 AM with a funeral service beginning at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the Monroe Village Cemetery, Plains Road, Monroe.
