Obituary

Wells River, VT Velma Helen Hall Mayhew, 90, of Creamery Street, died on Monday, August 8, 2011 at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center in St. Johnsbury, VT. Velma was born in North Haverhill, NH, September 11, 1920, the daughter of John S. and Florence E. (Nelson) Horne. Before retiring Velma worked as a salad chef at Black Point Inn, in Maine and at the Jupiter Island Club, Hobe Sound, Florida. She had also worked as a cook at Kaiser s Restaurant in Woodsville for many years and the Happy Hour Restaurant in Wells River. She enjoyed special gatherings with her family and friends. Her joy in life was to provide for her family and taking care of her loved ones. In later years she enjoyed going to lunch at McDonald s with her brother Sam and accompanying him to appointments in White River. She was predeceased by a son, William Hall, Sr., and by all of her siblings, Edith Horne, Leslie G. Horne, Sr., Ernest Red Horne, Fred Horne, Maurice Pete Horne, William H. Horne, and Forrest Sam Horne. She leaves a son, Willis Hall Sr. of Barnet, VT; three daughters, Patricia Wyman and friend Warren of North Haverhill, Florence Frost and husband Richard of South Ryegate, VT, Sally Mitchell and companion Roger Livingston of Worcester, MA; 15 grandchildren, William Hall, Jr. of Plymouth, NH, Mark Hall of Rumney, NH, John Hall of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Brenda Lane of Woodsville, NH, David Fellows of Bath, NH, Jeff Fellows of Woodsville, Chris Beck of Woodsville, Mike Beck of Bradford, Craig Wyman of North Haverhill, NH, Debbie McKean of North Haverhill, Melanie Fullerton of Bothell, WA, Tracy Villenuve of Waterford, VT, Geste Doyon of Lyndonville, VT, Buddy Hall of East Ryegate, and Lori Hall of Lyndonville; 29 great grandchildren; 21 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A celebration of her life will be on Saturday, August 13, at 2 PM at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH with Pastor Dan Chamberland from the Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Center Haverhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, Building Fund, 20 Elm Street, Wooodsville, NH 03785. The family would like to thank Dr. Pratt, the staff at Cottage Hospital, the staff in the ICU at Northeastern Regional Hospital, and the staff at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation for all the loving care and support.
