McIndoe Falls- Verne Moore McGrew, Jr., 98, passed away at his home with his wife by his side on Thursday, March 9 ^th , 2023.

He was born on August 17 ^th , 1924, in Pittsburgh, PA to Verne and Hazel (Dilks) McGrew.

After graduating from high school, he went to the academy and graduated in Long Island and became a merchant marine.

Over the years he also was an insurance agent for Pratt Insurance Incorporation in Pittsburgh, PA. In his free time, you would find him sailing. He always had a boat up until his older years and was well known for his wandering spirit. He enjoyed camping at Queens Point in Maryland. In his downtime he was an avid reader of mysteries, World War II and investigation stories.

He is predeceased by a son, James Riffle and his wife Mary, and a brother, Dexter and his wife Patty.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" McGrew; five sons, Eric McGrew and wife Lisa, Mark McGrew and wife Becky, David Riffe, Kevin Riffe and Verne M. McGrew III; a daughter, Anne and her husband Vince Kruse; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
