Groton, VT Vernon Casper Carle, Jr. 82, died on Monday, October 26, 2009, at his residence. He was born in Hanover, NH, August 28, 1927, the son of Vernon C. and Maggie Mae (Briar) Carle, Sr. Vernon served with the U. S. Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1944 to 1960. He worked for Palazzi Construction and more recently for Caledonia Construction. Vernon married Sara Jane Halfrey on September 21, 1997. He was predeceased by his first wife Geraldine (Millette) Carle on January 14, 1996; two sisters, Audrey Boardman and Mabelle Cleveland; four brothers, Ronald, Pete, Bill, and Wilson Carle. Survivors include his wife Sara Jane Carle of Groton, VT; three step-children, David Ellison of Groton, VT, Tim Ellison, and Jeannie Wall of Manchester, NH; several step-grandchildren; a sister, Vernice Green of Agawam, MA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A celebration of his life will be held at the Trinity Church of the Nazarene, North Haverhill, NH, on Friday, October 30, at 11 AM with Pastor George Hemway officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the service in the church dining room.
