North Haverhill, NH- Violet "Vi" Hatch, 94, of Dartmouth College Highway, went to be with her heavenly Father, at her home on Thursday, April 15, 2021, following a time of failing health.
Vi was born in Newbury, VT on November 12, 1926 to Harley and Margaret Grace (Minshull) Hood. She attended Newbury Public School all twelve years, graduating in 1945.
Following graduation, she worked at the Adams Paper Mill in Wells River, VT. She met
Russell Elmer Hatch and they were married on October 30, 1948. They lived in Newbury for a few years, where their son Russell Alan Hatch was born on December 14, 1949. In 1950, they purchased the Carpenter Farm in North Haverhill and together they owned and operated Lone Oak Farm.
Vi was active in the Sunday School, 4-H, and Young Peoples. She loved being the children's librarian and volunteered for many years at the North Haverhill Fair. Vi loved driving her John Deere tractor and "God help anyone who accidently drove on her lawn and left a tire mark," she would exclaim. She also liked dancing, bowling, drag racing, and riding motorcycle.
Along with her parents, Vi was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Russell Hatch on December 25, 2006; their son, Russell Alan Hatch on May 10, 2014; her sister, Margaret W. Colbeth on March 21, 1999; and four brothers, Raymond Hood on June 29, 2010, James Henry Hood on February 10, 2011, Harley John "Tink" Hood on December 5, 2018, and William Earl Hood on October 2, 2020.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law and caregiver, Jacqueline Hatch of Wells River, VT; four grandchildren, Angie Hatch and family of East Haven, VT, Dawn Shatney and family of West Burke, VT, Keith Hatch and family of Pike, NH, and Tim Ingerson and family of Bethlehem, NH; sisters in law, Nancy Hood of Newbury, Pat Hood of North Haverhill, and Shirley Hatch of Woodsville, NH; nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of friends who were near and dear to Vi's heart. She is also survived by her dear friends and caregivers, Barbara Hatch, Doreen Nichols, and Marie McLure.
A graveside service will be on Saturday, June 26, at noon in Ladd Street Cemetery, Haverhill, NH with Melissa Gould as Funeral Celebrant.
