Virginia S. Bailey, 90, of East Barnet, VT, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024, after a short stay at the Francis Atkinsons residence in Newbury, VT.

Virginia grew up in East Topsham, VT the daughter of Angie (Gilman) and Harley Smith.  She attended schools in Topsham and was a member of the graduating class of 1951 from Bradford Academy.

She is survived by six children and eleven grandchildren, Marie (Donnell) Dupuis, daughters, Angala, Katrina; Patricia (Mark) Farr and daughters, Roseann, Melissa, Christina, and Jennifer; Roland (Darlene) Chicoine, daughters Tera and Karen; Roger (Monica) Chicoine, daughters Mandi and Sasha; Robert Chicoine, daughter Veronica; Ronald (Marlene) Chicoine, sons Riley and Dustin.

Virginia married Marvin Bailey of East Barnet on September 12, 1975, with his five children Cynthia (Douglas) Cooney, Danial (Barbara) Bailey, Diane (Dennis) Lamothe, Marie Morse, and Jeffrey Bailey.

She is predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Marvin O. Bailey and younger sister Eleanor Butler, and brothers-in-law Waylon "Peewee" Butler and Franklin Bailey, and her baby brother Allen Smith.

Virginia loved seeing all the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.  She loved to travel, going to Florida during the winter for several years, and riding on back roads in the summers in Vermont.  She was a member of the Grange and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Barnet.

There will be a funeral at the Presbyterian Church of Barnet Center, 276 Barnet Center Rd, Barnet, VT, on Thursday May 16, 2024, at 10AM.  Interment will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to Presbyterian Church of Barnet, Attn: Assistant Treasurer Shellie Samuels, 279 West Main St. Barnet, VT 05821.
