Barnet, VT – Virginia F. Keenan, 95, died Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at her home in Barnet. She was born in Barnet, VT, January 4, 1917, the daughter of Albert Eugene and Mary (Richardson) Farnsworth. Virginia graduated from Peacham Academy with the class of 1934. She received her Registered Nurse following nursing training in Keene, NH in 1937. Virginia married John B. Keenan on May 26, 1938. She raised her family and helped her husband on the farm in Barnet and their farm on East Hill in Peacham. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Barnet at Barnet Center. Virginia enjoyed flowers, birds, poetry, reading, and crossword puzzles. Virginia will be remembered for being a hard working and a caring wife, mother, and friend. Family and her home were very important in her life. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, John B. Keenan on October 18, 1990. Virginia was also predeceased by her siblings, Frank Eugene Farnsworth, William Baker Farnsworth, Loulie May (Lou) Wilson, Emma Bracy Cheney, Alberta Isabelle Byron, Laura Alice Kelly, Grace Lamare, and Charlotte Mary Carpenter; and a niece, Marylin Wright. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Tarrier and husband Henry "Mike" of Westford, VT; two granddaughters, Mary Louise Kleppinger and husband Eric of Fairfax Station, VA and Amy Kathleen Flemings of Westford, VT; four great grandchildren, Naomi Ann Flemings, Monica Nichole Flemings, David Bartlett Kleppinger, and Sarah Grace Kleppinger; several special nieces and nephews, Joan Churchill and husband Bernard, Frank Goss and wife Joanne, Paul Keenan, Robert Keenan, William "Bill" Goss and wife Brenda, Alice Frazier, Priscilla Paquette and husband Ron, and Grant Carpenter and wife Betsy, and Richard Hovey and wife Dorothy; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families, and friends. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 1 PM at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH with Rev. Howard Gaston and Eric Kleppinger officiating. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family at the Barnet Center Cemetery.
