Obituary

Walter Everett Rowley III died peacefully in his sleep on the morning of December 15, 2014 after a short illness. Rett , as he was known by his friends and family, was born in 1945 in L.I., New York to Marjorie Paris Rowley and W. E. Rowley, Jr. They later moved to New Milford, Ct. where he graduated from New Milford High School in 1963. He then attended Clemson University and graduated from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vt. He taught English and Art at Bradford Academy and later at Oxbow High School for several years. He later followed his passion for books and worked as a publisher s representative for Scribner s, St Martin s Press, and Doubleday and Co. in Northern New England. He also worked for Sherwin Dodge as a print salesman for many years. Rett was an avid gardener, swimmer, and artist. He loved working on his old house in Bath, NH where he put his artistic talents to work. Reading was his greatest passion. He kept the librarians in town busy ordering books for him. He loved the town of Bath where he lived with his wife Susan for over 40 years, and was involved in town affairs over the years. He was especially proud of his work on the School Building Committee. Rett is survived by his wife of 45 years, Susan Davis Rowley and children Aaron Rowley of Milwaukie, Oregon, wife Melissa and grandson Asa,,, as well as daughter Elizabeth Rowley, partner Alexander Drake, and grandchildren Josephine and Remington. of Bethlehem, NH. His family will miss his wisdom and knowledge of so many topics. A commitment ceremony will be held at a later date in the spring, to be announced.
