Obituary

Walter D Kohanski (Jr) age 83, of Bradford, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by loving family on November 30, 2025.  He was born in Lowell, MA, to Walter D Kohanski and Helen Jankowski Kohanski and grew up in a Polish community in Tewksbury, MA.

Walter married Beverly J Wicks on July 15, 1972, at Westminster Congregational Church in Canterbury, CT, after attending Bible Institute of New England in St Johnsbury, VT and meeting and eventually falling in love.

Walter has had a number of jobs over the years, including his first, working at a vegetable farm, to a clerk at Caplan's Army Store, an Air Force Veteran, a driver for Operation Mobilization in many countries overseas, a postal worker for 25 years, and a clerk at Kinney Drugs for 17 years, not to mention husband and dad. When he wasn't working, he deeply enjoyed being involved with his church community, visiting friends, selling glass at the flea market, and collecting and doing jigsaw puzzles. His typical uniform was a pocket t-shirt or flannel shirt, work boots and Dad Jokes. Whenever he was stuck waiting anywhere, he always had a word-search puzzle book he would pull out to pass the time.

Walter Kohanski is survived by his loving wife Beverly Kohanski (Bradford, VT) and their 5 children, Naomi Sargent (divorced) of Bradford, VT; Eileen Kohanski of Bradford, VT; Rebecca Dube (Steven Dube) of Scotland, CT; Stanley Kohanski (Rachel Zimmer Kohanski) of Scotland, CT; Angela Kohanski of Piermont, NH, and 5 very loved grandchildren, Taylor, Isaac, Emmalee, Athena, and Vivian. He has 3 surviving siblings, Stasia Simrall, Jacob Kohanski (Claire Kohanski), and Carol Nolan as well as multiple cousins, nephews and nieces.

A memorial service with a pie and ice cream reception following, will take place on his 84th birthday, January 31, 2026 at 2pm at the Piermont Congregational Church, 101 Church St., Piermont, NH
