Newbury, VT- Warren "Sonny" Bailey, 72, of Vaughan Road, died following a period of failing health at the Jack Byrne Care Center in Lebanon, NH on Tuesday, March 19, 2019.
Sonny was born at the Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, NH to Horace E. and Josephine (Welch) Bailey. He had a varied working career that began by helping his parents on their family farm. Later he worked for the Town of Newbury Highway Department for over 15 years and then began working for Blackmount Equipment as their equipment delivery driver before retiring in 2017.
Sonny was a member of the The Northeast Two-Cylinder Club. He repaired, restored, and owned antique John Deere Tractors.
He was predeceased by his parents, Horace E. Bailey and Josephine Bailey.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Jacqueline (Sulham) Bailey of Newbury, to whom he was married on November 21, 1970; two children, Chris Bailey and wife Aileen of St. Albans, VT and Nicole Cooke and husband Seamus of Fletcher, VT; three grandchildren, Chris's son Keegan Bailey and Nicole and Seamus's children Cade and Keera Cooke; along with cousins, Brent Smith and wife Pam of Groton, VT, Rusty Crown and wife Martha of Groton, and several other cousins; and neighbors, Stewart Vaughan and wife Tammy, and Lucas Vaughan and wife Kris.
Calling hours will be on Friday, March 29, from 6 to 8 PM at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH.
A private graveside service will be held in the spring at the Jefferson Hill Cemetery, Newbury, VT,
