Obituary

Fairlee, VT- Warren Robert Bishop, 91, died on Monday, September 7, 2015, at his summer home in Ely, VT. Warren was born in Amsterdam, NY, on October 9, 1923, to Clifton Hall and Minna (Radichel) Bishop. He was a graduate of Bentley College with his degree in accounting. On September 29, 1945, he married Dorothy Frank. Warren was a decorated veteran of World War II having served in Company A 414th Infantry 104th Division in the Ardennes, Central Europe, Northern France and the Rhineland. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts. Living in Norwood, MA, Warren spent his working career with the New England Telephone Company, retiring as the financial statistician for the company in 1985. He had the distinction of opening the first computerized central switching office for New England Telephone in Quincy, MA. As a volunteer, Warren supported the Literacy Volunteers of the Norwood Memorial Public Library and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He was a lifelong supporter for the SNARC Massachusetts Chapter. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Frank Bishop, and a daughter, Jacqueline Bishop. He is survived by two children, Mark Bishop and wife Katherine of Fairlee and Janice Bishop Norton and husband Gregory of Norton, MA; two grandchildren, Johnathan Bishop Norton, a senior at Bridgewater State University, majoring in criminal justice and Alyssa Marie Norton, a sophomore at Dean College, majoring in business. Calling hours will be on Saturday, September 12 from 12-2 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A memorial service will be held at the Bishop Home, 957 Bragg Hill Road, Fairlee, VT following the service at the funeral home. There will be a memorial service celebrating Warren's life in Massachusetts at a later date. Burial will be in the Vermont Veterans Cemetery, Randolph, VT, at the convenience of the family.
