Wendy McReynolds Somers, 64 of Danville, VT passed away suddenly on the 22th of December 2023 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Mass as a result of complications from the influenza virus.
Wendy was the oldest child born to Russell McReynolds and Nancy (Cahoon) Hale in St. Johnsbury, VT. She was a devoted wife, mother, and active and respected community member in her town of Danville, VT. She took the most pride in her family, especially her boys.
She was a graduate of Danville High School, Class of 1977. During her high school years, she participated in basketball, track, and cheerleading. It was during her freshman year that she met her future husband, Scott Somers. Their loving relationship spanned some fifty years including those after they married in 1999 (24). They raised two sons, Brandon Scott Somers and Cameron Lee Somers both of Danville.
Wendy worked 25 years in the banking industry. She began her career at Caledonian National Bank in Danville, followed by many years at Citizens Bank in St. Johnsbury ending as Head of the Trust Department Then she worked at Passumpsic Savings Bank in Lyndonville as Branch Manager and finished her banking career in the Trust Department. She had been serving as Town Clerk for the Town of Danville, VT for the past 16 years. Wendy was always involved in various activities in support of her town and her family.
She was artistic and enjoyed creating crafts, quilting, and participating in craft shows. She had a great love of animals, especially dogs, and her special boxer, Sadie.
Wendy is survived by her husband, Scott Somers, and sons, Brandon and Cameron all of Danville; mother, Nancy Hale of Lyndonville, VT; father, Russell McReynolds of North Danville; sisters Tina (Rory) McReynolds Patrone of Harker Heights, Texas, Sheila (Scott) McReynolds Dodge of McIndoe, VT, brother Earl Jay McReynolds of White River Junction, VT, a half-brother Gary Hale of Lyndonville, VT, two half-sisters Dianne Mc Reynolds of Island Pond, VT, Brandy (Laurindo) Liberty Pacelli, of Littleton, MA, mother-in-law Anna Somers of Danville, VT, sister-in-law, Linda Somers Tasker of Henniker, NH, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved grandmother, Evelyn McReynolds, of North Danville, VT.

Calling hours will be Friday, December 29, 2023, from 5-7 PM at Ricker Funeral Home & Cremation Care of Woodsville. The funeral will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 11 AM at the Danville Congregational Church, 87 Hill St. Danville, VT. Burial will be on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 10 AM at the Danville Green Cemetery.
