Obituary

Bath, NH William Frederick Englert, Jr, 68, died on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at the VA Hospital in White River, VT. He was born in Williamsport, PA, May 26, 1939, the son of William Frederick and Hazel Belle Anne (Simcox) Englert Sr. William served in U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and then served with the U. S. Navy during the early Vietnam era. He received the Purple Heart during his time in the Army. He married Virginia Ann Poor on May 23, 1959. He worked for New England Electric Wire in Lisbon, NH and Franconia Paper Company in Lincoln, NH. He was a part time police officer in the towns of Lisbon, Littleton and Bethlehem. Bill owned his own sign company, Dutchman s Artistic Signs in Bath. He was a member of the Bath Congregational Church, was a trustee, former Sunday school teacher and deacon. He was a former 4-H project leader, served several years on the Bath Volunteer Fire Department, and coached Little League. For 20 years, he was a hunter education instructor at the Ammonoosuc Valley Fish and Game Club and also was a life member of the club. He belonged to the NRA and believed in all that it stood for. He served as the Bath Health Officer and Animal Control Officer. He was also a member on the Grafton Kane Lodge # 46 F + AM of North Haverhill, Ross Wood Post # 20 of Woodsville, VFW Post # 5245 in North Haverhill and a member of the Ammonoosuc Valley Railway Association. Most important in Bill s life was his love that he shared with his wife, children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Virginia (Poor) Englert of Bath, NH; five children, Frederick W. Englert and wife Anne of North Woodstock, NH, George E. Englert and wife Mary of North Haverhill, NH, Virginia B. Ingerson and husband Jon of Haverhill, NH, Marke C. Englert and wife Sheri of Williamstown, VT and Stephanie M. Pitre and husband James of Bethlehem, NH; 20 grandchildren; two sisters, Faith Englert of Savannah, GA and Donna L. Englert of Bath, NH; several nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be on Saturday, April 12, at 2 PM at the Bath Congregational Church, with Rev. Thomas Peters, officiating. Burial will be at the Bath Village Cemetery later this spring.
