Pike, NH William Roy Grimes, Jr. of Jeffers Hill Road, died on Monday, May 9, 2011, at the Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, NH. He was born in Haverhill, NH, July 28, 1929, the son of William Roy and Gladys (Hodgkins) Grimes, Sr. Bill married Shirley Pettis on September 27, 1953. He worked for Blake Creamery and also worked for the Glencliff Home for the Elderly on the grounds maintenance crew. Bill owned a dairy farm on Jeffers Hill Road called the Timberledge Farm. He was a member and former Deacon of Bethany Congregational Church. He was also a former member of the Mt. Mooselauke Grange in East Haverhill. Bill was always ready to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and community. He was predeceased by five sisters, Audrey Grimes, Flora Grimes, Louise Aldrich, Madeline Martin, and Doris Keniston; six brothers, Gerald Grimes, Ernest Grimes, Joseph Grimes, Ivan Grimes, Malcolm Grimes, and Richard Grimes. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Shirley Grimes of Pike, NH; a daughter, Pamela L. Badeau and husband Bernard of Barre, VT and Ft. Myers, FL; a son, William R. Grimes, III and wife Lory of Pike, NH; two sisters, Hazel King of Keene, NH and Ruby Lowe of Brattleboro, VT; four grandchildren, Eric Badeau, Renee` Badeau, Jessie Matheis, and Jeanne Grimes and two great grandchildren, Gabriella and Emma Matheis; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, May 11 from 6 to 8 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A memorial service will be on Thursday, May 12 at 11 AM at Ricker Funeral Home with Rev. Jane Wilson from the Bethany Congregational Church officiating. Burial will follow in the East Haverhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Norris Cotton Cancer Center, One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH.
