Obituary

Bath, NH-  William Raymond McTaggart, 68, of Foster Hill Road died on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Littleton Regional Hospital following a courageous battle with myelofibrosis, with his family by his side.

Bill was born in Barre, VT on November 2, 1952 to Raymond Harold and Anita Arlene (McCormack) McTaggart.  He attended   Bradford Academy.  Following high school, he joined the US Army and served from July 26, 1972 through July 16, 1974, spending time in Germany.

After his honorable discharge, he received his HVAC certification at Associated Technical Institute in Woburn, MA and was employed as an HVAC mechanic for Elbits Systems in Merrimack, NH for 25 years.

Bill resided in Merrimack for 30 years where he raised his family and moved to Bath in 2015 after he retired.

He loved his beagles and competed in field dog trials.  Bill was an active member of several beagle clubs including the Eastern Massachusetts, White Mountain, and Vermont Beagle Clubs.  He was an avid deer and rabbit hunter.  He enjoyed listening to the blues and country music.  Mostly, he loved the time spent with his family, extended family, and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Stevens) McTaggart of Bath, to whom he was married on May 15, 1982; a daughter, Sarah McTaggart and husband, Gregory Kern of Essex, VT; a son, Ryan McTaggart and fiance` Chelsea Eschenbach of Canterbury, NH; two granddaughters, Grace and Haleigh; three sisters, Jane Currier of Williamstown, VT, Judy McKay and husband Duncan of Orange, VT, and Marlene Davis and husband John of Sunapee, NH; a brother, Ronald McTaggart and wife Sandra of Williamstown; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Anita McTaggart and a sister Betty Currier.

A memorial service will be at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH on Saturday, May 22 at 5 PM followed by a time for friends and family to gather and reminisce.  A Celebration Barbecue for Bill  will take place at his home in Bath NH on Sunday May 23rd at noon, all are  invited.
A private burial will be in East Topsham (VT) Cemetery.
