Meyers
February 1, 2023
William David Meyers, 1932-2023.
William David Meyers of North Haverhill, New Hampshire died on February first at his home after a long illness.
He was predeceased in death by his first wife, Barbara; his brother Bud, and his sister Mildred.
He is survived by Lisy, his wife of 19 years, and his children from his first marriage, David & Kathy, residents of Maryland. He had two grandchildren, Kacy, and Joe. There are three great grandchildren, Mckenna, Rylie, and Jaxon they reside in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
William, "Bill", was born to Charles Henry Meyers and Esther Lindstrom Hjort (of Finland) in Westerville Ohio on the 5th of November 1932.
Bill was an engineer and studied at the Ohio State University, the University of Hawaii and George Washington University. He was in the Navy from 1951- 1955, stationed in Hawaii and trained as a communications engineer. As a civilian, he worked for 35 years for the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington D.C for the department of defense. He was sent around the world to setup antennas and to study ELF (Extremely Low Frequencies and Noises) in signal processing. He authored many published reports from the Communications Science Division. He traveled extensively throughout Norway and around the world.
During his time in Annapolis, Maryland, he had lived near the Chesapeake Bay and built his own twenty-six-foot sailboat. After the death of his first wife, he moved to New Hampshire to begin life off-grid and to enjoy the peace and beauty of nature.
He met the challenge of starting his own solar energy system at a time when there were few models to follow.
Although time caught up with him, William managed to engineer a wonderful life in the North Country meeting new friends and working on daily projects. William and his wife Lisy rescued five retired greyhounds from Fast Friends Rescue in Keene. The dogs were a cause that was very close to his heart.
There will be no funeral, William's family will visit when seasons change, and they will celebrate his life. His ashes will be scattered on his property along one of the trails he loved so well.
