Ryegate, VT Winona B. Dolly Phelps, 84, died on Monday, November 11, 2013 at the Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, NH. She was born in South Ryegate, VT, February 16, 1929, the daughter of Perley A. and Winona M. (Henderson) Sulham. She married Gordon Nelson Phelps on September 18, 1945. They lived and raised their five children in the South Ryegate area. Dolly worked at the Littleton Shoe Shop, P&H Truckstop, and was a waitress at Thomas Pharmacy. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cooking, reading, and Native American heritage. Dolly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Gordon N. Phelps on September 26, 2006; a sister, Elizabeth Patterson; and three brothers, Edward, Milford, and Richard Sulham. Survivors include five children, Dale Phelps and wife Roberta of Bath, NH, Allen Phelps and wife Sue of East Ryegate, VT, Wayne Phelps and wife Harriet of Miamisburg, OH, Debra Roy and husband Arthur, Jr. of West Barnet, VT, and Rick Phelps and wife Linda of Bedford, NH; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; two brothers, Homer Sulham of Ascutney, VT and Russell Sulham of Wells River; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 16 , at 10:30 AM, at the Pinehurst Cemetery, South Ryegate, VT, with Rev. Dr. M. Catherine Cook of the South Ryegate Presbyterian Church officiating.
