Obituary

Peacham, VT - Zoltan Forrai, 90, passed away on May 22, 2009, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH. Zoltan was born in Dorypatlan, Hungary, on March 11, 1919, to Aladar and Iren (Paulay) Forrai. He was a graduate of the Hungarian Military Academy and was an officer in the Hungarian cavalry. He fled Hungary when the Communists took over the country in 1945. After spending about ten years in Austria and Canada, he settled in the United States, where he was able to fulfill his dream of establishing a horseback riding school and riding camp. Many students will remember his strict but friendly way and his strong personality. He is survived by Hertha (Steinmetz) Forrai, his wife of 42 years, and many loving relatives in Europe. Zoltan was proud to be an American citizen, while at the same time holding on to his old-world style and manners. He will be missed. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on June 6, 2009, at 11 AM in the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Danville, VT, with Father Patrick Furman officiating. Interment will be in the Peacham Village Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Peacham Library, P.O. Box 253, Peacham, VT 05862.
